XFasten Silicone Tape is a self-fusing, waterproof, and weather-resistant repair tape designed for fast, permanent seals on electrical wires, plumbing, ducts, hoses, and more. Follow these detailed steps for a secure and professional installation:
Note:
This tape contains no adhesive. It bonds only to itself when stretched and overlapped, forming a strong, waterproof, and airtight seal.
✅ Step 1: Prepare the surface.
Clean the Surface. Ensure the area is clean, dry, and free from oil, dust, or debris to maximize bonding strength.
✅ Step 2: Wrap from the roll. Do not pre-cut.
Begin wrapping at least 2–3 inches before the leak or damaged area. Stretch the tape while unrolling and peel off the clear backing liner as you go. Overlap each layer by at least 50% to activate the self-fusing bond. The tape bonds only to itself, not the surface.
✅ Step 3: Add layers and extend coverage.
For stronger seals or high-pressure repairs, continue wrapping with 2–3 tight layers, extending 2–3 inches beyond the problem area. Do not cut between layers—wrap continuously for best results.
✅ Step 4: Secure the end and let it set.
Press the final layer firmly onto the wrapped tape, not the surface. Smooth out any air gaps. The tape begins bonding immediately, but allow several hours for full sealing strength.
💡 Pro Tips
- For electrical insulation, start and end the wrap on insulated wire sections.
- For leaking pipes, begin wrapping 1–2 inches before the leak and extend well past it.
- Store unused tape in a resealable bag to avoid dust and preserve bonding strength.
