How to Use Micro Sander Kit

Setting up your XFasten Micro Sander Kit is quick and effortless—no tools, no guesswork, no frustration. Whether you're a seasoned woodworker or a weekend DIYer, this guide will walk you through every step to ensure optimal performance from the very first use.

With its hook and loop sanding system, ergonomic design, and a full range of grits, the XFasten Micro Sander is built for precision in tight spaces and flawless finishes on wood, walls, and furniture. Follow the instructions below to get started and unlock smoother, faster, cleaner sanding in every project.

Step 1: Select the Right Grit for the Job

Begin by identifying the stage of your project. This kit includes five grit levels—80, 120, 180, 240, and 400.

  • Use 80 grit for aggressive sanding, paint stripping, and leveling rough wood surfaces.

  • Opt for 120 or 180 grit for general smoothing and prepping surfaces before staining or sealing.

  • Choose 240 or 400 grit for fine detailing, sanding between coats, and achieving a polished, silky finish.

Each sheet is clearly labeled and precision-cut to fit the mini sanding block, eliminating guesswork.

Step 2: Attach the Sandpaper to the Mini Sander Block

Take your chosen grit sheet and align it with the red micro sander block (3.5” x 1”).
The sander features a hook and loop (Velcro-style) backing, allowing you to press and lock the sandpaper securely into place—no adhesive, no slipping, no fuss.

Step 3: Begin Sanding with Controlled Pressure

Grip the ergonomic sander comfortably in your hand. Thanks to its lightweight polycarbonate body and contoured design, you can sand longer with less fatigue.
Apply light to moderate, even pressure. Move the sander in smooth strokes along the grain of the wood or in controlled passes over the surface you're working on.
Use the pointed tip and compact size to access tight corners, edges, and recessed areas where larger sanders can't reach.

Step 4: Replace Sheets When Needed

As the grit wears down or if you need to switch to a finer (or coarser) grit, simply peel off the current sheet and press a new one into place.
No tools are required, making transitions fast and fluid, ideal for multi-step sanding tasks on furniture, walls, or wood crafts.

Step 5: Clean and Store for Long-Term Use

After use, dust off the sander and store unused sandpaper in a cool, dry area to preserve grit sharpness. The polycarbonate block resists cracking and can withstand repeated use, project after project.

Pro Tips for Best Results

  • 🛠️ Start with the Lowest Grit – Always begin with a coarser grit and move upward through finer ones. This builds a smoother, more professional finish with minimal material waste.

  • 🌀 Use Circular or With-Grain Motion – On flat wood surfaces, sand with the grain to avoid scratches. On contoured surfaces or models, a light circular motion offers better coverage.

  • ♻️ Reuse When Possible – These sandpaper sheets are clog-resistant. Simply tap or blow off the dust and reuse them across multiple passes before replacing.

  • 🔁 Pre-Cut for Speed – Keep a small stack of each grit prepped and within reach during your project. It saves time, especially when switching grits frequently.

  • 🧼 Pair with Dust Collection or Mask – Fine sanding produces airborne particles. Use a dust collector or wear a mask when working indoors or for extended periods.
